A YOUTH program which helps build the confidence of western suburbs teens has received a boost of its own.
Thanks to the Reach Foundation, more than 2500 young people have received advice and taken steps to improve their life since it came to Caroline Springs two years ago.
Last week, the state government announced $1million in funding to help the statewide foundation continue its work for the next four years.
Established in 1994, Reach runs a variety of workshops, weekends away and events which promote good mental health for young people, helping them build resilience and emotional awareness.
The foundation's community engagement facilitator in Caroline Springs, Dain Fay, runs workshops in partnership with Melton Council and police.
Young people needed a place where they could dream and live up to their potential, he said.
"The young people we work with are from all walks of life, not just street kids or kids who might seem a bit on the edge.
"We also work with those from the private school system who live a privileged lifestyle down to those in juvenile care and the justice system. They are all generally limited in confidence and they limit themselves to what they believe they can achieve."
