THE form of Keilor Bowls Club's mother-daughter duo Gayle and Brooke Edwards' continued as both earned selection in yet another state team.
Named in the Victorian side for the national championships in early April, both were also part of the state triples team at the Australian Open.
"We lost in the quarter finals of the competition," Gayle said after the loss in Shepparton.
"It's disappointing, but we didn't bowl well so we deserved to lose." For Gayle, who is in her 10th year as part of the Victorian team, it is a long way from wanting to play the game as a child.
"I've always wanted to play bowls ... I used to see it walking through the Fitzroy Gardens so I got a neighbour to take me," Gayle said.
Her greatest honour was being part of the Australian side.
"I played for Australia in 2003 or 2004 against New Zealand," Gayle said. "It was an excellent feeling and I didn't lose a match against them."
For Brooke it was a natural progression to follow her mother into the sport.
"Brooke followed in my footsteps and has been playing since she was 12 and seriously for the last seven years.
"She has been in the Victorian side for six years, and is currently the best lead in Victoria.
"She wants to, and I would love her to, play for Australia and I can't see a reason why she can't."
Both Gayle and Brooke moved to Keilor after a stint with Glenroy, and will be joined by teammate Carla Odgers in the squad.
Looking forward to the national championships, Gayle's aim for the year is simple.
"I want to win gold at the nationals in both the triples and singles."
