SYDENHAM-Hillside Primary School has claimed third place in the regional soccer finals at the Keilor Park Soccer Club last Wednesday.

The school was one of four teams who made it to the finals out of 320 schools and coach Bobby Kotevski was thrilled with the result.

"It was a pretty fantastic effort," he said.

Sydenham-Hillside was bundled out of title contention with a 5-2 defeat to Isik College, of Broadmeadows, in an entertaining semi-final. "They were 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes and our boys scored two to even it up," Kotevski said.

"They ended up running away with the game in the last 10 minutes.

"They were a much better team than us."

Sydenham-Hillside finished on a high note with a 1-0 win over St Christopher's, of Airport West, in the third place playoff.
