FFV: Sydenham Park facing relegation

09 Sep, 2010 12:39 AM
SYDENHAM Park has been relegated from the Football Federation Victoria men's state league 2 north-west.

The Reds were belted 6-3 by Moreland City on the road at the Paisley Park Soccer Complex last night.

The second-last Sydenham are second-last on the ladder and virtually consigned to state league 3 north-west in 2011 by virtue of an inferior goal difference.

Sydenham did its utmost to avoid relegation under new coach Dominic Barba since he took over the coaching duties from Zoran Markovski, but their run was finally upended with the heavy three-goal defeat.

Interest now turns to the boardroom with strong rumors linking the club to a merger with relegated Victorian Premier League club Altona Magic.

Sydenham hosts Altona East Phoenix in the final round on Saturday at Keilor Lodge Reserve.
