Albanvale smashed

31 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
A SEASON that promised so much delivered nought for Albanvale in the Western Region Football League division 2.

The Cobras were skinned alive by Parkside Magpies in the preliminary final at JK Grant Reserve in Altona on Sunday.

The contest was virtually over at its mid-point as the Magpies ran riot to hold a massive 62-point lead at half-time. The Cobras wanted to atone for their dismal 89-point loss to North Footscray in the second semi-final a week earlier.

Meanwhile, the Sunshine Kangaroos made use of their double chance to easily account for St Albans in the first semi-final at Chirnside Park in Werribee on Sunday. The Roos cruised to victory by 50 points.

SCOREBOARD WRFL

First semi-final: Sunshine Kangaroos 16.11 (107) d St Albans 8.9 (57) Division 2 Preliminary final: Albanvale 13.8 (86) lt Parkside 22.15 (147)
