SUNSHINE United will have to produce nothing short of their best bowling against the Westmeadows Warriors in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association north division on Saturday if they intend to steal a finals berth.
United cautiously approached their innings to make 9-208. The go-slow nature of their 80 overs will make their task of defending the total much harder.
The second-placed Warriors will not take the run chase lightly as a loss could see them tumble out of the top two.
Hot and cold Sunshine Druids (210) have to find a way to win against lowly Tullamarine (2-27) or face the prospect of relegation.
The Druids are one point ahead of Hoppers Crossing, which is locked in an interesting tussle with Doutta Stars.
■Taylors Lakes is intent on finishing the north A1 season on a high.
The Lakers amassed 9-302 from 80 overs against East Keilor.
Glen Jones was the top-scorer for the Lakers with 69.
St Albans is in touching distance of the top-two. The Saints are 1-87 and likely to go on to defeat Seddon, which set 184 for victory. If the Saints can win and second-placed Footscray United slip up, a home final will be theirs.
Albion has already lost on first innings points to Werribee Centrals.
■ St Andrew's first season in the VTCA north B1 cannot end quickly enough.
The travelling Saints remain winless and that is how it's likely to stay after a discouraging opening day's play against Flemington.
The Braybrook-based Saints were rolled for 193 and Flemington has already eaten into the target.
At stumps, the home side was cruising at 0-25.
