IF fly-fishing sounds like the kind of hobby you'd enjoy, then the Sunshine Fly Casting Club is looking for you.
Established in 1965, the club has always aimed to foster the art of fly-fishing and to arrange and promote fly-casting.
Secretary Brian Cocks says it's great fun and he's encouraging anyone, from learners to experienced fly-fishers, to join the club.
"We have about 70 members, men and women, but we're always after more," he says.
Mr Cocks joined the club in 1995 after retiring from United Pumps Australia in Sunshine.
"All my workmates were involved and got me joined up to go fishing."
The clubrooms are at King Edward Avenue in Sunshine, but people from across the western suburbs are invited to come along. Monthly competitions are held at rivers and lakes in Victoria. Members also compete in Australian and Victorian fly-fishing championships, and last year they competed in the world championships in Scotland.
Annual fishing trips to New Zealand and Tasmania are also organised. There are weekly meetings at the clubrooms, including fly-tying courses held three times a month.
Fly-fishing and casting clinics are available and members are also encouraged to compete in interclub competitions and national and state titles to improve their skills.
