ALBANVALE resident Daina Bottrell has been voted off The Biggest Loser but leaves the TV program 27 kilograms lighter.
Ms Bottrell and her sister Caitlin, the heaviest female contestant in the show's history, won the hearts of fans for their devotion to helping each other out.
They grew up in Sunbury, but Daina moved to Brimbank about two years ago.
Daina said she had been out of the house for about a month, but the 'eviction' episode didn't go to air until Monday last week.
"I went in weighing 105 kilograms and now weigh 77 kilograms.
"This has changed my life completely. I'm happier with my body, I can wear whatever clothes I like and I'm enjoying life more. Before I went in I could barely get motivated to get out of bed and go to work. Now I'm not tired any more."
Daina said she couldn't run for two minutes before joining the show but is now running 10 kilometres every
morning.
As part of this year's show, contestants are being trained to compete in a marathon. Those who have been voted off have the chance to come back. If they win the race, they are immediately put back in the house. "I've been training really hard for that. I can now run 32 kilometres and I'm hoping to win so I can go back in."
Many viewers will remember the episode when Daina ate six deserts, including a massive dish of creme brulee.
"Ah, yes, I remember that. I did that to get Caitlin and me immunity. I knew how much she still needed to be there ... but in hindsight, I would have just waited and eaten the last dessert."
Now watching Caitlin in the house on her own, Ms Bottrell says she feels proud.
"It's great to see her being so independent and watching her become more feminine. Seeing her up on those scales each week and just seeing her more and more happy is amazing."
Daina doesn't believe the show has been dangerous for her health.
"No, not at all, as long as you pick up the tips they give you along the way, you will translate it into real life.
"It's pretty simple really: calories in, calories out."
