SUNSHINE RSL members have voted not to go ahead with 30 controversial social housing units on its site.
Planning Minister Justin Madden pushed through the proposal late last year and building was supposed to start in February.
But Sunshine RSL president David Twidle said the committee met last night and decided not to go ahead with the plan.
‘‘It is because of the community backlash. We expected some backlash, but not this much.
‘‘We are a community-based club and want the community to keep coming to our club."
Mr Twidle said it was up to Anzac House to inform the government of its decision.
