Students get into gear for ride day

09 Mar, 2010 09:27 AM
CATHOLIC Regional College is really getting into the swing of Ride to School Day.

Teacher Tony DeFazio says the school takes student health and wellbeing seriously and likes to have fun with the event.

The ride, on March 17, is a State Government initiative to encourage students to ride their bikes and get fit.

The school has managed to get Melton Council and Delfin on board to help make this year's event a success.

Students are being asked to walk or ride for more than a kilometre and will be rewarded with fruit and breakfast.

"This fits in with our school's road safety plan and is about health and fitness and alternatives for getting to school," Mr DeFazio said.

He is hoping at least 60 students will take part.

"All the children who participate will also be earning points for their houses."
