PLANS to transform Sunshine's parks will be thrown open to residents at a community forum on September 11.
Brimbank Council will use the forum to discuss possible improvements to public parks throughout the area.
Residents will have the chance to contribute to the redevelopment of Buckingham Reserve, Tom O'Brien Park and the Kevin Wheelahan Gardens.
Award-winning designer Ric McConaghy will also conduct a workshop on children's playground design.
The forum comes in response to calls for improved access to recreational facilities.
The council says it is a step towards realising its Creating Better Parks open space and playground initiative, which is aimed at developing parks and playgrounds linked by a network of walking and cycling trails.
Since 2008, the council has invested more than $2million in park, playground, bike path and streetscape improvements in the Sunshine area. These include upgrades to HV McKay Memorial Gardens, the Ardeer community playground, and the Cannon Street pedestrian bridge.
The council's plans outline a further $1.3million of improvements in Sunshine in 2010-11.
The forum is at the Salvation Army Hall from 10am.
