On the beat ... to save ducks

24 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
KEILOR Downs constables Courtney Long and Sheryl D'Lima (pictured) were taken by surprise when they received a call to save a family of ducks.

They arrived at Maynard Place in Kings Park at 11.30am on January 9 to find four ducks waddling towards a large stormwater drain.

The constables called Brimbank Council and a ranger was sent out to help the constables catch the ducks.

They later found a fifth duckling on the opposite side of the street.

The ducks were taken to a farm in Werribee to be raised until they were old enough to be released.

Constable Long said it was one of her more enjoyable days on the job.
