CHILDREN as young as three showed their musical skills on Sunday when Australia's youngest orchestra performed at a Brimbank shopping centre.
The Mozartini Orchestra, based at the Australian Keyboard Academy in Delahey, will play three shows during the school holidays at Brimbank Central Shopping Centre in Deer Park.
The orchestra, made up of children aged 3-8, formed in October and is named after Mozart.
The Australian-themed concerts will feature classic songs such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Waltzing Matilda and Advance Australia Fair.
Teacher Lorenzo Capitanio
said children learned music well together.
"Learning music has for too long been portrayed as a solo activity, but when you look at music being performed it's always in an ensemble or band setting.
"I want to educate my students that music learning and performing is a community activity, identical to sport.
"This approach truly makes learning music more enjoyable and engaging for the young music student."
The next two shows will be from noon-1pm on Saturday and July 11.
