Lawyers with a heart

07 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
A KEY provider of legal help for young people in Brimbank has marked a major milestone.

Sunshine Youth Legal Centre recently provided its 1000th client with free advice.

Staffed by Victorian University law students, the centre helps people aged 16-25 with everything from mobile phone contracts and infringements to tenancy issues and debt.

The service has been operating from Sunshine's Visy Cares Hub since July 2008.

Supervisor Judith Dredge enjoys the satisfaction of bringing more than 25 years of experience in corporate, private and government law to help young people who can't afford a lawyer.

"Being a lawyer isn't necessarily about making money, but more about assisting and empowering people to successfully resolve their legal issues."
