Is album a push along the path to rock stardom?

HE might have a full-time job and three kids, but Caroline Springs musician Frank Zammit won't give up on his dream to be a rock star.

That dream could still become a reality for the 37-year-old and his three fellow band members if The Pass Outs' debut album proves to be a hit.

Speaking ahead of a performance at Saturday's Lakeside Live festival in Caroline Springs, Zammit said the album, Dead Technology, would likely be launched in April. Most of its songs are originals.

Zammit says the group has been influenced by Powderfinger, Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters and has supported popular bands like The Screaming Jets and Calling All Cars.

Zammit has high hopes for the new release. "It's definitely a rock album and we're looking at 11 tracks, but that could still change," he says.

"Me and [lead vocalist] David Sirianni have been around for a long time and we're doing it [the album] independently like most bands these days."
