WHEN Mikie Ibrahim filled out a competition form recently, he wished he could win so he could buy some new bikes for his fellow students at Deer Park's Western Autistic School.
A couple of months later, he was shocked but thrilled to get a call saying he had won.
Mikie, from Melton South, entered McDonald's Justice League Be Your Local Hero Competition and won $5000.
"I would like my school to have the $5000 so they can buy some new bikes and toys for all the special kids," Mikie wrote.
"At the moment there's not enough sports equipment to go around the class and some of the kids get upset."
School principal Val Gill said the grant couldn't have come at a better time.
"I can't thank McDonald's enough for choosing Deer Park Western Autistic School as winners of the competition, and I find it truly inspiring that Mikie was so thoughtful as to nominate us."
"The funds will be spent on updating much-needed sports equipment, which will definitely lift the morale of the children as well as allowing Mikie and his friends to ride together," Ms Gill said.
Mikie's grandmother, Paula Bradley, said she was proud of him.
"It was on the back of a Happy Meal and he just couldn't wait to fill it out and post it off," she said.
Unfortunately, Mikie will not benefit from the new bikes, as his time at the Deer Park school finished last year.
"He doesn't get to use them, which is a real shame, but like I told him, it's great knowing that it will go to help the other students," Ms Bradley said.
