Anger as thousands of litres go down drain

31 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
THERE was water, water everywhere in a St Albans street last week, but it wasn't due to the rain.

A burst water main resulted in hundreds of thousands of litres of water flowing through Fox Street last Monday. Kings Park resident Rocco Arena, who has a tiling business in

the street, told the Advocate he felt helpless seeing all that water go to waste.

"I called City West Water but they said it would take an hour before they could send someone over. There was a lot of water going down the drain for nothing."

There was so much water "you could probably put a boat through the street".

A CWW spokeswoman said it received a call at 11.04am from a resident notifying it of the burst main. Workers arrived at the site about 11.30am and shut the water off moments later.
